We thought a $9 billion state budget deficit was bad. Try an actual $16 billion this year alone. Almost as much as the past 5 years ($20 billion), but in one year. DO THE PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT SCHWARZENEGGER'S ELIMINATION OF THE CAR TAX WAS SO GENIUS STILL THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA NOW? Young people's college dreams and the core functions of K-12 and important public safety and other services are at risk. We could've avoided this last June by extending then-current taxes. Now look at where we are, and it is by design, so our crisis can be vulture capitalists' opportunity.
